Lending activity

Corporate lending remains NOMOS’ key business resulting in a strong focus on credit risk management. As at YE 2008, gross loans to corporate customers stood at US$ 6,197 million (RUB 182,721 million) equaling to 91.3% of the gross loan portfolio. NOMOS actively works with high quality borrowers such as companies of federal importance, strong government enterprises and miners of precious metals among others.

Credit losses in NOMOS over the past years have been minimal. Historically the share of non-performing loans has been one of the lowest within NOMOS’ peer group. Traditionally the Bank has conservative underwriting and provisioning. Allowances for possible loan losses have always been established at prudent levels. Over 80% of NOMOS’ loan portfolio is collateralized. Sound lending policies and a conservative attitude towards collateral have resulted in a low level of write-offs.
